One Small Step...

in the right direction. I keep preaching that I will lay down my rhetorical arms against Islam on the day they lay the cornorstone to the first Synagogue next to the First Baptist Church of Mecca. This doesn't have to happen litteraly (it could be down the street), but the point is that if Muslims expect me to be respectful and tolerant of them they should start by being respectful and tolerant of me.

Respect earns respect. Disrespect earns disrespect.

So far, I see some 1,300 years of disrespect leading up to 9-11. They have a lot to answer for.

That said, this is good news:

Muslim state to build first Christian church for 1,400 years
From Michael Theodoulou in Nicosia

THE first Christian church in Qatar since the arrival of Islam in the 7th century is to be built in the conservative Muslim state, which is led by a reform-minded ruler.
The £4 million development of the Church of the Epiphany, which will not have a spire or free-standing cross, will begin early next year on land donated by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.

What is encouraging is to see the Emir take this step. Now we will see first, how the people of Qatar react. That in and of itself will be instructive.

Next, how the Islamofacist terrorists react. That, I am afraid, is predictable. What will be instructive about that will be how successful they are, and, again, the reaction of the population.

All in all, it's at least a step in the right direction.
