Remember Made In America ?

"On the Plains of Hesitation, bleach the bones of countless millions
who, at the dawn of victory, sat down to wait, and waiting, died."
- William A. Lawrence

This statement draws to mind the current state of manufacturing in America. We, the US, climbed atop the world economy, just to sit down satisfied and got soft enough to die on the vine. It was fashionable once, for some reason..?, to buy only American made products, or at least attempt to. Made in Japan once meant "this product is crap". Now, made in China means "this crap is crap". And made in America means, what exactly? Parts manufactured elsewhere, shipped here and then assembled by US citizens under the management of foreign born managers and owners.

If I am buying a product, unless something in the display of the product claims it to be made in the US, I dont otherwise know where it is made, because I dont look anymore. Everything is made in China.

Globalization is turning our once proud bell curve into a crater. We lived so well that we could pick and choose our means of support, expecting always the fat fruit at the bottom of our hard work. Now we eat the fruit at the bottom first and whine that Pedro, who we had to hire to dig the fruit out, would'nt stay and cook for the kids too.

Wake up America ! China has all of the money and none of the heart we do. They'll own us shortly, 30 to 50 years from now. I see no sign of that inevitability changing. What are we going to do about it ? What can we do about it ?
