NAACP chairman compares GOP to Nazis

(Hat Tip:Krager)

Civil rights activist and NAACP Chairman Julian Bond delivered a blistering partisan speech at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina last night, equating the Republican Party with the Nazi Party and characterizing Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her predecessor, Colin Powell, as "tokens."

"The Republican Party would have the American flag and the swastika flying side by side," he charged.

Calling President Bush a liar, Bond told the audience at the historically black institution that this White House's lies are more serious than the lies of his predecessor's because Clinton's lies didn't kill people.

OK, fine. It is time to pull the NAACP's tax-exempt status. 503(c) doesn't allow partisan politics, and the NAACP is now without question simply a wing of the Democratic Party. A token Secretary of State in a time of war?

I think Julian Bond's been hanging out with Marion Barry too long.

I'm not certain that I am sarcastic with that comment. What has this man been smoking? Rather than celebrate the accomplishments of Condi Rice and Colin Powell, he chooses to denigrate them in explicitly racist terms. Not only should the NAACP lose their 503(c) status, they should change their name to National Association for the Advancment of DEMOCRATIC People, and tell the truth about it.

I'll give them this. They don't judge people by the color of their skin, nor, sadly, the content of their character.

Party affiliation is all that matters.
