Danny, this is probably different than your Mom made, but well worth the extra steps. If you want to make this recipe and want to take shortcuts that won't affect the outcome, do this:
Buy a pre-roasted chicken from the deli at the grocery store. The ones that are lemon herb are great. This way you won't have to prep the chicken.
And, for southern style, instead of making the fluffy dumplings like I describe in my recipe, roll the biscuit dough out on a flour-dusted surface and cut it into pieces. Drop them into the boiling broth/chicken mixture, and stir. The dumplings will turn out southern style instead of northern style.
It's really that easy!
